Formwork Wing Nuts are part of the Tie Bar System: Specially designed for securing formwork. Wing Nuts work with Steel Waler Plates to help spread the load of the Tie Bar into the supporting steel or timber struts, preventing damage and failure of the formwork. This system is primarily used to hold shuttering firmly in place when constructing concrete walls.
Tie bars are manufactured from hot rolled high tensile steel and have a coarse thread specifically designed to be resilient to the rigours of the construction site. This thread runs along the whole length of the bar allowing it to be cut or coupled at any point. During assembly of the formwork the Tie Bar is held in place by using the specially designed large Wing Nuts and large square washers called Waler Plates. The bars are slid through PVC Thruty Sleeves. Once the concrete has cured the bars are easily removed from the concrete structure to be reused. To create neat chamfered edges to these holes on the concrete structure, specially designed Thruty Cones are positioned on the ends of the Thruty sleeve while setting up the formwork. The Thruty Cones are removed once the concrete has cured. To create a smooth, watertight finish, Flupp Plugs are placed in the holes and a watertight repair is achieved with Tie Plug Cement.
